On 5th October 2023, “The 1st Bariatric Symposium Towards a Safer Practice 2023” was held in Slemani.
“I am thrilled that we will finally be able to meet in person to strengthen our community bonds.” Said Dr Karzan Sirwan, president of the symposium.
The symposium was organized by Gastrointestinal and Bariatric clinic (GiB) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and University of Slemani-College of medicine.
Experts in the GIT and bariatric surgery and medical students from Slemani, Erbil, and Badghdad were all present as core participants.
The symposium’s objectives were to discuss international bariatric surgery guidelines, recent scientific literatures, and to complex bariatric cases .
“It was an informative discussion. We plan to bring the next step to Erbil city”.
Said Dr Dler Shina, a specialist in general surgery from Erbil.
